Evangelism

Our vision is to follow our own mission statement and Jesus' Great Commission "to make disciples throughout the world."

Most of our evangelistic endeavors revolve around the use of our facilities to reach the community around us. The Parish Life Center (PLC) has been a wonderful gift to our parish and our community and is used by various civic and community groups participating in activities from basketball to Pilates. Other para-church groups such as Emmaus, Cursillo, Happening and Chrysalis make use of the PLC for their ministries. It is a wonderful setting for  where the parish can host and welcome neighbors and members of the community to a great assortment of events throughout the year. The PLC has also enabled us to reach out to our racially diverse neighbors for pick-up basketball games and other sporting events. It is our great honor that MIFA chooses it for their annual Christmas Estival Place Dinner for families in transition to independence.

Other facilities, including the Parish Hall and the sanctuary, have been used for many events open to the community, such as concerts, the former annual Diocesan Flower Festival and seminars of various kinds. It is hoped that by opening our doors and inviting the community to Saint John's that those who come will find a warm and comfortable environment for Christian growth and fellowship. There is tremendous potential for growth in this area, and Saint John's has laid the groundwork to follow the Great Commission in our community.
